Statement of Policies for Adult Evening School Classes
Registration

Registration, tuition and bookstore fees will be taken online and by mail one month prior to the current semester. Enrollment is based on full payment of tuition. The first students to pay their tuition will be officially enrolled up to class capacity. A $25.00 service charge will be imposed for checks not honored by the bank, regardless of the reason. FEES ARE PER SEMESTER.

All agency or company-sponsored students must bring a letter of authorization for billing upon registration. A $20.00 late fee per student will be assessed for tuition paid thirty days after receipt of invoice.

Make check or money order payable to Richmond Public Schools. Separate checks should be written for the exact amount of tuition and the exact amount for textbooks.

A minimum of twelve students is required before a course will be offered. The Richmond Technical Center reserves the right to cancel classes that do not meet this requirement.

Class fees are due upon registration. A $20.00 fee will be assessed for tuition paid after the start of class.

Refund Policy: There will be no refund of fees or tuition unless the class is canceled by the Administration. Partial refunds may be allowed if written application and receipt is received prior to the 7 th calendar day following the beginning of class. A $10.00 processing fee will be retained by the Center on withdrawals from class initiated by the student. In the event a class must be canceled, refunds will be made as soon as possible. Please allow at least 2 weeks for processing.

There are two semesters given yearly, starting in January, and September. All courses are conducted during the evenings. Courses consist of approximately seventy-five hours of instruction and are fifteen to eighteen weeks in duration. By registering for any course you agree to comply with the Center parking policy and understand that smoking and use of tobacco products or theconsumption of alcohol is PROHIBITED on all Richmond City Public Schools properties at all times.

Senior citizens of Virginia, 60 or above, will be permitted to attend class on a space available basis. SENIOR CITIZENS will be required to pay all fees, textbook fees, and similar charges. No senior citizen will be permitted to take the same class a second time.

These course descriptions are current at the time of publication. Courses are added from time to time to meet the needs of our community. Courses and dates may be changed at the discretion of Richmond Technical Center . Special courses are designated to meet the needs of industry. A textbook is needed for the majority of our courses. All books may be purchased from the Book Store during the first week of school. Books may be purchased from Book Store from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Monday – Thursday. BOOKS ARE NON-RETURNABLE.

One transcript will be issued free upon a written request of the student. Additional requests will be $2.00 per request. A fee of $2.00 will be charged for a duplicate receipt.

No student who has successfully completed a class will be permitted to retake the same class.

We are state approved agency for Veterans Education and Training.

A Certificate of Completion will be awarded to students upon completion of the course requirements with a final grade of not less than “C” and a minimum of 80% attendance.
