Richmond Public Schools' district publication,
" IN FOCUS", featured an article in the December
11th issue about eight Richmond City teachers who
are to receive National Board Certification pins.

announce that one of our own is among the eight
National Board Certified. (Ms. Annie Deloatch)
It was reported that to become nationally board
certified, teachers must submit a school-site port-
folio of student work samples, viedotaped lessons
and reflective commentaries. Applicants must also
pass test questions that demonstrate their subject
matter knowledge. The program typically requires
an additional 200 to 400 hours of preparation and
usually takes one or two school years to complete.
Teachers will receive their National Board
Certification pins at a January 6 ceremony scheduled
from 5-7 p.m. at VCU's Singleton Center for the
Performing Arts.
